Title:
Windows 9x Dial-Up Password Problems
Body:
Many users of Windows 95/98/ME report that they are unable to save their Dial-Up Network passwords. This is caused by a bug in the operating system which as of yet has no downloadable patch. However, there are several tricks a user can do perform to restore password-saving on their computer. Although the need for this information is growing less likely as newer operating systems become prevalent, I will be creating a list of the more common solutions.

1. The Save Password box is grayed out.
Run the Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE).

Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Network\ Real Mode Net.

If you see autologon (on the right side) with a value of 00, double-click on it, and replace the value with 01 00 00 00 00.

You'll have to restart Windows for this change to take effect.
Here is another tip from Microsoft regarding the Dial-Up Networking password issue.
